I read an article in the local paper * over the weekend with a headline touting that 22% of homebuyers regret purchasing their home. Almost a quarter of the buyers. Their source (and evidently who wrote the original article) is NerdWallet.
My first thought was: This is not true
My final thought on the matter is: This is not true, with my clients
Surprising statistics are eye-catching and what get a story printed. I’m not saying their survey didn’t have those results. What I am left wondering is “how can this be?” This is not the experience I hear from people I speak with, even if I was not involved in their sale.
I have been in this business for 23 years and am having trouble thinking of anyone who told me they regret their home purchase. I keep in regular contact with my clients and make it a point to ask about their home. Odds are a couple of these people have some reservations and haven’t told me, but I’d put some good money down on the under of the NerdWallet article figure.
Speaking of past clients, pictured are Mr. & Mrs M who recently purchased this home in Cumberland County Pennsylvania. I’ll reach out to them today and see how things are going. If they tell me they “regret” buying their home I’ll be sure to edit this article.
